Interview Scripts

Main Girl

How long have you been dancing?
I have been dancing for 8 years now. I started dancing when i was in year 5 because my teacher was doing an after school club for Latin American dancing. As soon as i started i fell in love with it, she requested that i should go to the dance school where she learnt when she was younger. The diamond dance centre.

How did it feel to go from your after school club to a proper dance school?
It was amazing, the atmosphere was incredible. I was welcomed into the school straight away and i made friends in no time at all. Also the dancing was more intense, the teachers were more strict than at my school.

What do you like so much about dancing?
I love the family feel of our dance school. We all look out for each other and we are all friends for life. I also love the theatrical side of it, all the make up and dresses. I really like when we go to the Nationwide Finals in Blackpool and we all come together and everyone puts their differences aside. We all cheer each other and out school spirit is amazing.

Grace & Emily

How long have you been dancing together?
2 Years now, we became dance partners at the beginning of the year, we were going to take it as an easy, fun year but then we realized we were really good together so we worked for it then came 1st in the Nationwide finals out of 50 couples!

How long have you been dancing for?
Grace: Since i was 3 so 15 years!! Wow i didn't realize it was that long!

How long have you been friends?
We have been friends for 9 years and were just as close now as we were back then, all them years ago.

How did you become friends?
We became friends through dancing. We started young and became friends at a young age, i suppose we've stayed this close because of dancing as well.

Why are there 2 girls dancing together and does it make dancing harder in competitions?
There are a lot of all girl partnerships because there aren't enough boys to go around so the girls go together. In competitions normally the boy-girl couples do better as its more appealing to the eye and it looks better, but then some all girl couples are really good and manage to beat them!
