Questionnaire Results

Question1

The majority of people that took part in my questionnaire was female. There was 17 female and 8 male. I found that men were not as interested in a dancing documentary than women were. Before i handed out the questionnaire i had an idea that women would be more interested in dancing as it is commonly known as a female hobby. When handing out the questionnaire's men read it and decided to give it back instead of filling it out.

Question2

After handing the questionnaire out i found that the majority of people i asked were between 16-20 and 26-30. This gives me a wide range of people that would be interested in the documentary and a much bigger target audience. I feel that the outcome was what i wanted as i knew not many 5-10 year olds would not be interested in watching a dancing documentary. The 16-20 year olds would be my main target audience as dancing is popular in this age group.
Question3

18 out of 25 people classed themselves as a dancer. I know dancers would be more interested in watching a dancing documentary, however i think that having people that aren't dancers would be good too as they might be interested in taking up dancing. The people that said they were dancers should know a lot about dancing, so might see the documentary from a different aspect. They might have the same story as the main girl does. The non-dancers will be watching something they wouldn't know a lot about but it may still interest them.
Question4

19 out of 25 people said they would be interested in watching a documentary. The other 6 didn't like the idea. However i like how they have been truthful and still have taken part in the questionnaire. Im glad that the majority of people that did take part in the questionnaire would be interested in watching the dancing documentary.
Question5

I found that 20 out of 25 people enjoy dancing/ enjoy watching dancing. This makes sense as 6 people said that they wouldn't like watching a dancing documentary and only 5 said they do not enjoy dancing/watching. I think that this is a good result from the questionnaire.
Question6

13 out of 25 people said that they were more interested in lively/upbeat dancing compared to calm/mellow dancing. This is good as the dancing documentary has more lively/upbeat dancing involved. However 12 people have said that they would rather see calm/mellow dancing which is a bit disappointing.
Question7

I found that 21 out of 25 people think that my dancing documentary would be popular which is very good! I am glad that the majority of the people said that the documentary would be popular and this has given me a positive feeling about it now.

Question8

The question of whether dancing should be classed as a physical sport had a negative outcome. 16 out of 25 people who took part said that dancing is not a physical sport. The majority of these people also said that dancing is a hobby therefore its not a sport. They also think that dancers aren't using as much energy as someone on a football/rugby pitch.
Question9

I'm happy with this result as i had a feeling that the people who said that they would not find the dancing documentary interesting were non-dancers and wouldn't like to dance. I was right as 5 out of 7 people said that they would not consider taking up dancing if they were given the opportunity. Some of the reasons included that they have no rhythm or that they just aren't interested in dancing.
Question10

12 out of 25 people think that the dancing documentary would suit being on the BBC channel. I also agree with this as the BBC is well known for showing documentaries of all different types.

Target Audience- Genre, Age and Sex

Gender- Male, Female
My Documentary will be made for both males and females to watch. I will not aim it at either sex because i feel my documentary can be benefited by both sex. I  have had a look on the internet at some statistics and out of males and females, males enjoy watching documentaries more than females do. I feel with my choice of documentary it will appeal more to females as it is about dancing.
Age
My documentary will be suitable for children of all ages as i have found the definitions of the age barriers and my documentary is appropriate for all ages.

Motion pictures in this category may contain less subtle sexually suggestive scenes and nudity and a more realistic portrayal of violence than in the General category; coarse language may occur more often than in the General category.
